Pr. Stéphanie Baillif is Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Pasteur 2 Hospital in Nice and holds the Chair of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine of Nice. She is a specialist in medical and surgical diseases of the retina, performing endoresection following proton therapy, and managing complications such as radiation-induced maculopathy.

Short Bio

Professor Stéphanie Baillif was appointed as Hospital Practitioner–Professor of Universities in November 2015. Since then, she has served as Head of the Ophthalmology Department. She completed her residency and fellowship in Lyon, which allowed her to maintain strong national professional collaborations.

Clinically, Professor Baillif specializes in both medical and surgical retinal diseases. She performs surgeries for retinal detachments, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. On the medical side, she manages patients with macular edema due to diabetes, retinal vein occlusions, and age-related macular degeneration. She also oversees the care and follow-up of patients with hereditary retinal dystrophies and co-founded—alongside Dr. Tieulié, a specialist in Internal Medicine—the Reference Center for Rare Inflammatory Eye Diseases (Uveitis).

Academically, Professor Baillif serves as Vice President of the Teaching Committee at the Faculty of Medicine in Nice. She is also the interregional coordinator for the national medical residency program (DES) in Ophthalmology. She is regularly invited to speak at national and international medical conferences, training symposia, and academic meetings.
