Pr. Sandra Lassalle
Pathologist
Pr. Sandra Lassalle is a specialist in anatomical and cytopathology, a medical discipline dedicated to the microscopic analysis of tissue and tumor samples. This work enables the establishment of a diagnosis and the identification of key prognostic factors, helping to guide therapeutic decisions. She is recognized as a national authority and a European expert in ophthalmic pathology.
Short Bio
Professor Sandra Lassalle has been a pathologist at the Nice University Hospital since 2003. She is the hospital’s lead ophthalmic pathologist in France and one of the European specialists in the field, analyzing all tissue samples from patients operated on in the ophthalmology department at the Nice University Hospital. She established a dedicated ophthalmopathology collection within the Nice University Hospital biobank ([BB-0033-0025] (https://biobank-cotedazur.fr/)) to support national and international research teams in advancing the understanding of ocular cancer mechanisms and identifying therapeutic targets that may eventually improve patient care.
Professor Lassalle is also involved in ophthalmology-focused research projects within the team led by Corine Bertolotto and Robert Ballotti, specializing in uveal melanoma at the Mediterranean Center for Molecular Medicine.
Additionally, she serves as a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Nice, where she teaches anatomical pathology to medical students at various levels.
